Monza of Silvio Berlusconi triumphed 2-1 against Sassuolo on Friday in Serie A, moving up to seventh position.
Patrick Ciurria tied the score for Monza at the hour mark, but Matteo Pessina scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time.
Six minutes into the first half’s stoppage time, Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi successfully converted a penalty.
Following Ruan Tressoldi’s dismissal in the 68th minute, Sassuolo was reduced to 10 men.
With his tenth goal of the year, Berardi joined Ciro Immobile and Lautaro Martinez as the only players to score ten or more goals in each of the previous four Serie A seasons.
With 44 points from 36 games, Sassuolo is still in 13th place, while Monaza has 52 points from the same number of games.
Before the game began, a moment of silence was held to remember those who lost their lives as a result of the severe floods in Emilia-Romagna, where Sassuolo is headquartered.
