President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharad Pawar, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, claiming it was hard to tell if the party was using the issue for political or commercial gain and that he had not received an invitation to the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
On January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, and more than 6,000 spectators are anticipated for the “Pran Pratistha,” or the consecration ritual of the Ram Lalla idol.
“I’m not sure whether the BJP is leveraging the problem for business or political gain. We are pleased that the temple, for which many people have donated, is being built,” Pawar told reporters, according to PTI. Pawar declined to answer when asked whether he was invited.
I go to two or three places of worship that I keep quiet about. It’s a personal concern,” he said.
After opening an airport in the temple town of Ayodhya on December 30, PM Modi is expected to conduct a roadshow and speak at a public gathering before the consecration ceremony on January 22.
