After Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the new deputy chief minister of the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared that the “double-engine” government that was being run under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had changed to a “triple-engine” government.

We now have one chief minister and two deputy chief ministers, CM Shinde told ANI. The government that previously had two engines has three now.

Ajit Pawar and all of his supporters are invited to work towards the development of Maharashtra. “I am confident that the government and people will profit from Ajit Pawar and his allies’ experience,” Shinde said after leaving Mumbai’s Raj Bhavan following the swearing-in ceremony. He further stated that Maharashtra will benefit from the leadership expertise of the NCP.

In response to the inclusion of NCP leaders in the Maharashtra cabinet, Shinde said that there is sufficient time to make a decision regarding seat-sharing. Taking aim at the opposition, the chief minister remarked, “This time they will not manage to get even those number of seats.” The opposition was able to secure four or five members from the state in the Lok Sabha.
