Ajit Pawar, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party, was sworn in as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra on Sunday, according to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), which declared on Monday that he would shortly succeed current chief minister Eknath Shinde.
Speaking to reporters, MP Sanjay Raut indicated that 16 dissident Shiv Sena MLAs would also be disqualified in addition to the removal of Shinde from the position of CM.
“Today, I’m announcing this in front of the camera; the Maharashtra Chief Minister will change. Removed is Eknath Shinde. The 16 MLAs and Eknath Shinde would be disqualified, according to Sanjay Raut.
“The BJP is dismantling the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, but doing so would do them absolutely no good. We shall work together to win the 2024 elections in Maharashtra. It is astonishing that PM Modi claimed that NCP leaders were corrupt when they had just taken an oath at Raj Bhawan, he continued.
On Sunday, Ajit Pawar took the oath of office as deputy chief minister, thereby dividing the NCP vertically. Additionally, the BJP-Eknath Shinde administration swore in eight NCP leaders as ministers.
On Sunday, Sharad Pawar stated that the NCP did not choose to support the BJP-Shiv Sena government and that leaders who disobeyed party directives will face consequences.
He further attacked the BJP, calling this development a “robbery” rather than a “googly”.
