Some Kind Of Design Behind The Incidents Of Love Jihad Says Maharashtra Deputy CM

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said there sighted some kind of design behind the incidents of ‘love jihad’.

He was speaking in the Legislative Council while responding to a calling attention motion moved by Bharatiya Janata Party member Gopichand Padalkar.

Mr Fadnavis told the upper house of state legislature that Prima facie, it appears that there is some kind of design behind such incidents. When there have been several rallies by the majority community, the government cannot ignore it. It needs to take recognisation of their demands.

He further says that he does not have the exact number of cases or complaints filed against ove jihad.It is a term coined in Kerala.There are many challenges to draw up a law against it. If a conversion takes place, Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 420 will be invoked. But the definition of that section is not specified for religious conversions. Therefore, we need to renew laws for the same.
