24 fighter aircraft, eight transport planes, and two force multipliers from both air forces took part in the event, which began on April 10, according to IAF Group Captain Neeraj Jhamb.
He stated that 564 IAF and USAF soldiers participated in the exercise, which saw most days with maximum daytime temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius at Kalaikunda and the Arjan Singh Air Force station in Panagarh.
Fighters Rafale, Sukhoi-30 MKI, locally produced Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and Jaguar, transporters C130J and C17, force multipliers IL-76 airborne warning and control system, and an Embraer 145 airborne early warning and control aircraft were among the aerial assets used in the exercise by the IAF, according to Jhamb.
According to him, the USAF took part in the drill using F-15E Strike Eagles, B1B bombers, C130J and C17 transport aircraft, and MC130J special operations aircraft.
Following the manoeuvres and a static display of the aircraft, IAF’s Jhamb gave a press briefing. He explained that the bilateral air force training exercise is focused on strengthening existing capabilities and fostering mutual understanding of force employment while also fostering Indo-US cooperation.
He said that Cope India 2023 is unique since the IAF’s Tejas and Rafale aircraft, as well as the USAF’s F15-E Strike Eagle fighters, participated for the first time.
According to Jhamb, the exercise director for Cope India 2023, “the last two weeks witnessed intense flying operations by fighters, transport aircrafts, and force multipliers.”
According to him, a number of missions were flown concurrently to improve the use of a big force package for fighting inside visible range and beyond visual range.
Increased cohesiveness in combat operations, improved awareness of air operations in big force packages, and improved technical use of air power were all goals of Cope India 2023.
According to aviation Commodore Ran Singh, Air Officer Commanding of Kalaikunda Air Force Station, the combined aviation exercise gave both nations a chance to better their militaries and learn from one another.
