In an effort to recoup from the previous selloff, local benchmark indexes began higher on Friday, tracking gains seen elsewhere in Asia. The NSE Nifty50 climbed 90 points to 18,947, while the BSE Sensex increased 348 points to 63,470.
Top Sensex gainers were Tata Steel, Infosys, M&M, SBI, Sun Pharma, and NTCP; top Nifty gainers included Hindalco and Bajaj Auto.
Conversely, a few prominent drags were Asian Paints, HUL, Nestle, and Ultratech Cement.
The wider markets saw a strong comeback as well. Both the BSE SmallCap and MidCap indexes saw a 1% increase.
