K Ponmudy, the DMK leader and Tamil Nadu’s minister for higher education, was brought by Enforcement Directorate agents to the agency’s office in Tamil Nadu on Monday night after being searched.
Ponmudy was transported to the ED office under the protection of central police forces, where he would likely be questioned, according to official sources. They also said that searches were conducted in Villupuram and on locations connected to the minister for nearly 10 hours.
Ponmudy’s properties and those of his MP son Gautham Sigamani were searched by the ED in connection with a money laundering case involving suspected illicit sand mining.
