Mumbai: A 53-year-old man from Mumbai sold his flat for Rs 1 crore 27 lakh to buy a new flat. That amount was required for the purchase of a new flat. However, cyber criminals have cheated him. The person has been cheated by being lured to pay more amount in return for part-time work. According to the police, the complainant received a message from a woman on February 9 offering a part-time job. She was told that she will send some movie and hotel links and rate them.

In the beginning, that person earned 7 thousand rupees by rating the hotel. However, after that, he lost Rs 1 crore 27 lakh. The person deposited the entire amount in the fraudster’s account within the next two days.

Police fraudsters try to gain the trust of citizens by sending small amounts in the beginning. They then induce him to invest a huge amount and everything ends, police said.

When the concerned person expressed his interest in doing a part-time job, the woman sent him weblinks and asked him to share his bank account details. After that the woman also gave login and password. After that, the woman asked the person to deposit 10 thousand rupees. After this, the woman asked to rate the hotel on the website. After giving the rating, the concerned person was sent 17 thousand 372 rupees.

The woman then sent another link and asked the person to invest Rs 32 thousand and check the e-wallet. There he saw an amount of Rs.55 thousand. He then sent an amount of 50 thousand rupees to the woman’s account, the woman asked the man to send 55 thousand rupees again giving a technical reason.

The 53-year-old man sent an amount of Rs 48 lakh to the account of the concerned woman on May 17 and asked her to complete the task on the links provided. Henceforth he was showing the profit amount of 60 lakhs in the e-wallet. After that, the woman said that if the person wants an amount of 60 lakhs, he will have to deposit 30 lakh rupees. On May 18, the person sent as much as 76 lakhs from various accounts to the woman’s account.
