On Sunday, Assam’s flooding scenario persisted, affecting more than 4 lakh residents in the state.
Despite the fact that the water levels have begun to decrease, the downpour has severely damaged the state’s nine districts.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said that three people have died so far in the state’s first wave of flooding this year.
According to the report, the flooding has affected about 4,07,700 people in the districts of Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, and Udalguri.
Additionally, it claimed that in certain places, the water levels had started to drop.
“The administration has been running 119 relief distribution centers in five districts and 101 relief camps in these districts, where 81,352 people have sought refuge,” it said.
“At this time, 8,469.56 hectares of crop area have been damaged throughout Assam, and 1,118 villages are currently under water,” it said.
Additionally, it was noted that Baksa, Barpeta, Sonitpur, Dhubri, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Nalbari, South Salmara, and Udalguri had all seen significant soil erosion.
Additionally, landslides caused by heavy rain have been observed in certain areas of Karimganj.
It said that flood floods have harmed embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure in Darrang, Sonitpur, Kamrup, Golaghat, Nalbari, Barpeta, Baksa, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Goalpara, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Udalguri, and Lakhimpur.
It also said that the Darrang district’s metropolitan districts were often under water.
