Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, on Friday announced the allocation of Rs 87 crore for the YSR Shaadi Tohfa and YSR Kalyanamasthu programmes, which would assist 12,132 eligible females who get married in the January-March 2023 quarter.
Beneficiaries from minority populations, including the handicapped and construction workers, who are SC, ST, and BC, will have these monies instantly paid to their bank accounts.
The YSR Shaadi Tohfa programme has been launched specifically for the benefit of Muslim women to utilise the money for their weddings. The YSR Kalyanamasthu initiative provides financial support to the daughters of impoverished households in the state for marriage.
In a formal statement, Reddy said that the program’s goal was to shift parents’ perspectives on the importance of educating their children by making Class 10 a requirement for programme execution.
The Chief Minister virtually engaged with several recipients after transferring the monies.
