On Thursday, three chief justices of the high court were raised to the Supreme Court, where they will take the oath of office and the court will have 34 judges in total.

Top court justices were chosen, including Chief Justices Satish Chandra Sharma of the Delhi High Court, Augustine George Masih of the Rajasthan High Court, and Sandeep Mehta of the Gauhati High Court.

On November 6, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended their nominations.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, the law minister, declared their appointment on X.

The Chief Justice of India is one of the 34 judges who are authorized to serve on the Supreme Court.

When judges Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar were promoted to the highest court in February of this year, the top court had already reached its maximum strength.

This evening at 4:15 the three new Supreme Court justices will take the oath of office.
