Prime Minister Narendra Modi today left for Japan on the first leg of his three-nation tour. The PM will attend the G7 summit in Hiroshima later in the evening. India has been invited as the guest country for the G7 summit. The conference will discuss a number of issues including nuclear disarmament, economic resilience and economic security, regional issues, climate and energy.
PM Modi will also visit Papua New Guinea and Australia during this visit. PM will also meet 24 world leaders along with participating in 40 programs in this 6-day visit. Modi is also expected to have bilateral meetings with several leaders.
The G7 summit is being held in Hiroshima, Japan from 19 to 21 May. In the conference, PM Modi along with other invited participants will give his views on the challenges facing the world and how to deal with them collectively. On the Japan tour, Prime Minister Modi is likely to hold bilateral meetings with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida along with several other leaders.
After the conference, PM Modi will participate in the unveiling of a statue of Mahatma Gandhi along with paying homage at the memorial built in memory of the victims of the atomic blast in Hiroshima.
PM Modi will visit Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea on May 21 after wrapping up his visit to Japan. This will also be the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Papua New Guinea.
PM Modi will then jointly host the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III Summit) on 22 May, jointly with PM James Marape of Papua New Guinea.
After this, PM Modi will also hold bilateral talks with Governor General Sir Bob Dade, Prime Minister Marape and some other PIC leaders attending the summit.
Later, PM Modi will go to Australia, there he will hold a meeting with the Indian community in Australia. After this, the PM will also meet the big CEOs of Australia.
