In the Anantnag district, where a terrible encounter the day before took the lives of three courageous security officials, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have stated that they have trapped two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants.

The Kashmir Zone Police wrote on X in a solemn tribute to the unflinching bravery shown by Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and DSP Humayun Bhat who led from the front and gave his life in the ongoing operation: “Our forces continue their unwavering resolve as they encircle 2 LET terrorists, including Uzair Khan.”

The terrible occurrence happened on Wednesday at Gadole in the Kokernag region of the Anantnag district, following a confrontation with militants. The commanding commander of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, a major-level official, and a deputy superintendent of police were among the slain heroes.

One of the troops killed in the gun battle with the terrorists in J&K’s Anantnag district on Tuesday night was Colonel Manpreet Singh, a native of Mohali. On Wednesday morning, the operation was being led by Colonel Singh’s unit. He bravely fought on despite suffering serious injuries throughout the combat till he passed away from his wounds. Additionally, in the course of duty, Major Ashish Dhonack and Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat gave their lives.

Colonel Singh had a touching last communication with his family on Wednesday morning. He had indicated that he was busy and that he would talk to you later. Unfortunately, that “later” never came, and when his family learned of his passing later that day, it threw a shadow of sadness over his community.

A day before to this unfortunate tragedy, three security officials were injured in a shootout south of the Pir Panjal at Rajouri in the Jammu area, along with one Army soldier and Kent, a six-year-old female Labrador from the Army’s canine squad. Two terrorists were also eliminated in a separate incident that took place in the isolated Narla area.
