Two People Are Being Sued In Thane For Defrauding A Businessman Of Rs. 5.02 Cr

An official stated on Sunday that police in Thane, Maharashtra, have filed a complaint against a man and a woman for allegedly defrauding a businessman out of Rs. 5.02 crore.

According to a Bhayander police station officer, the accused, who worked for a business consulting agency, was engaged in securing work for the victim’s company from other businesses for whom they had contracts.

In the process, he said, the accused allegedly stole Rs 5.02 crore collected over the previous two years from different businesses.

The police on Friday filed a case against the two suspects under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (acts done by multiple people in furtherance of common purpose) based on the businessman’s complaint, he added.

He said that no arrests have been made so far and that an investigation is ongoing.

The businessman’s complaint led to the registration of a case, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
