Marathi daily supported by RSS Days after the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT) referred to the Deputy Chief Minister of the BJP, Devendra Fadnavis, as a “Kalank” (blot) on Nagpur), Tarun Bharat labeled Uddhav Thackeray as “infamous” for being an ineffective former Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

The Nagpur-based newspaper further said in an editorial that whereas Fadnavis is a self-made success, Thackeray has even lost the party and its emblem, which he inherited.

Although political criticism is to be anticipated, Thackeray went well beyond during his most recent visit to the city. He is notorious for being a (former) chief minister of the state who was ineffective, it said.

It cannot be said that Fadnavis is to responsible for Thackeray’s failure to preserve his own party. The editorial said that Thackeray is unrelentingly criticizing Fadnavis and the BJP rather than reflecting on what transpired inside his party.

The allusion to Shiv Sena events relates to the uprising spearheaded by Eknath Shinde and 39 MLAs against Thackeray’s leadership that brought down the Maha Vikas Aghadi government last year.

Later, the Election Commission recognized the Shinde-led organization as the original Shiv Sena and granted it the bow and arrow election emblem.

“Everything Fadnavis has accomplished was the result of his hard work and dedication. However, you (Thackeray) lost your party and the emblem you had inherited, according to the editorial.

Speaking to party members in Nagpur, where Fadnavis is from, Thackeray said on Monday that the BJP leader was a “Kalank” (blot) on the city since he had sided with certain NCP members while claiming he would never do so.

In response, Fadnavis said that given the prevailing political climate in Maharashtra, it seems that Thackeray needs some kind of mental health care.
