A 50-year-old man was sentenced to 26 years of hard jail time by a Kannuaj, Uttar Pradesh, court for kidnapping and raping a three-year-old girl in this hamlet almost two years ago, authorities said on Saturday.
Additionally, the court fined Rajesh Jatav Rs 50,500, according to government attorney Naveen Kumar Dubey.
According to Dubey, a complaint was filed against Rajesh Jatav, also known as Mahatma (50), alleging that he kidnapped the three-year-old child on December 2, 2021, kept her captive in a neighboring residence, and sexually assaulted her.
When the victim’s health worsened, Jatav left the home. The youngster was saved and taken to a hospital by her family members who had subsequently arrived at the scene, according to the government attorney.
He also said that Special Judge (POCSO) Alka Yadav found Jatav guilty on Friday and sentenced him to 26 years of hard labour based on the girl’s medical report and further evidence.
According to Dubey, the court also fined Jatav Rs. 50,500 and mandated that he spend an extra two years of imprisonment if the money was not paid.
