The instant messaging service WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, often attracts media attention for rolling out new features on Android, iOS, and the web. The firm is apparently implementing a search tool under the Updates tab (formerly Status) shortly after the news of the message search by date feature broke, according to WABetaInfo.

The beta build version ‘23.21.1.72’ of iOS is where the functionality is reportedly being released. Users will be able to search channels and contacts’ statuses using this tool. Enrolled testers may check to see whether the functionality is included in their build by updating their application via the TestFlight app.

The search bar should be accessible at the top of the Status page, according to the screenshot included in the complaint. When a user inputs a term, the Status and Channels category’s results will be shown. Additionally, this will make it possible for WhatsApp accounts to locate the channels they subscribe to, saving them the trouble of having to search through the proliferation of many channels.

The news tracker also said that users would be able to collapse the Channels section that displays suggestions if they have no active channel subscriptions. For those who are not interested in WhatsApp Channels, this will be useful. The business wants to simplify the status update search process with the future search since it became difficult when WhatsApp Channels were added to the Updates page.

Also according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a search message by date feature for the web client in the beta channel. The functionality would let users filter messages by date, as the name would imply. In order to prevent malicious parties from determining the location of a receiver from their IP address and to preserve their privacy, Meta is also testing a call relay function.
