Chandrapur: There are many cases of theft happening in the society from time to time. Thefts are committed for the lure of financial gain. Most of the time jewelery or cash is stolen by thieves. However, in Chandrapur, a thief broke a water ATM for just Rs.5. The theft of water ATMs has led to shortage of clean water in the village.
The incident took place at Wasera in Sindewahi taluka. “Water ATM” was started four months ago under Gram Panchayat Office Vasera for cold and pure drinking water. Water ATM has been started for the past one year under the District Mineral Foundation Fund through the District Rural Water Supply Department under the Government Mission Village Water ATM. Cold and pure drinking water was available. Citizens could buy fifteen liters of water by inserting a five rupee coin in the ATM.
Thieves spotted this ATM. Thieves broke the water ATM machine for five rupees and ran away with five rupees. Due to this act of thieves, the water ATM machine has stopped. As a result, the villagers have been deprived of clean and cold water. Artificial water scarcity has arisen in the village. Wasera Village Sarpanch Mahesh Borkar, Police Patil Devendra Talande informed Sindewahi Police about the incident of theft. The police are looking for this thief who broke the ATM for five rupees. But it has not been found yet.
