The Nationalist Congress Party leader said he and his party leaders disregard what others say and do not pay any credence to such pieces since they know what they are doing, a day after the Shiv Sena (UBT) alleged Sharad Pawar has failed to develop a successor to take his Nationalist Congress Party forward.
On Tuesday, Pawar told the media in Satara that everyone in the NCP is aware of how to move the party ahead and how new leadership is developed inside the organization.
Pawar, according to a Monday editorial in the Shiv Sena (UBT) newspaper “Saamana,” has not produced a successor who can lead his party forward.
The Marathi magazine also said that certain members of the big committee, which was formed after Pawar declared his intention to stand down as NCP president, were eager to join the governing Bharatiya Janata Party. But because of pressure from NCP cadres, it said that these members were forced to beg Pawar to remain.
Notably, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), together with the NCP and Congress, is one of the three groups that make up the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
When questioned over the Saamana statements, Pawar said, “We do not attach any significance whether someone is writing about whether or not we establish new leadership. They have the right to write, but we don’t take notice. We are confident in what we are doing and believe it will work. Pawar said that when the Congress and NCP took office in 1999, a cabinet was formed.
“Jayant Patil, Ajit Pawar, Dilip Walse Patil, and R R Patil were given the opportunity to join the government from the NCP. When I first began, I was a minister of state, and after serving as a junior minister, I was promoted. The whole state of Maharashtra observed their efforts when I appointed all of these individuals as cabinet members in 1999, the NCP leader stated.
