Why Did Gautam Adani Meet Sharad Pawar Again? NCP Broke The Silence On The Questions Being Raised

Share

Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group and the country’s richest industrialist, met NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday. After this meeting, many discussions started in the politics of Maharashtra. However, this was not the first time that Adani visited Pawar’s residence ‘Silver Oak’ and met him. Earlier, Adani and Pawar met in April as well.

Sharad Pawar has broken the silence on the issue of Gautam Adani for the first time amidst the ongoing discussions in Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar has called this meeting technical. He told that some delegation from Singapore had come to me and they wanted to meet industrialist Gautam Adani on some technical issue. In such a situation, there was a meeting between Gautam Adani and the delegation of Singapore. However, this was a technical matter. So I don’t understand much about it.

This meeting between Sharad Pawar and Gautam Adani lasted for about half an hour. Even though Sharad Pawar has called the meeting technical, but discussions are on in the political circles of Maharashtra. Even before this, Pawar has defended Gautam Adani in the matter of Hindenburg report.

In fact, the American firm Hindenburg released a report regarding Adani Group led by Gautam Adani. Hindenburg accused Adani Group of market manipulation and account fraud. After this report came out, there has been a huge fall in the shares of Adani Group. However, the Gautam Adani-led Adani Group denied the allegations and called it baseless and misleading. He claimed that the public was misled in this report. The case has already reached to Supreme Court. On the orders of the Supreme Court, SEBI had also submitted a report after investigating in this matter.

On the other hand, the opposition is continuously targeting the Modi government on the issue of Adani. There was a lot of uproar on the Adani issue even in the budget session. In the House, 19 opposition parties demanded a JPC on the issue of Adani and accused the Modi government of corruption. Rahul Gandhi was also constantly seen raising the questions to government on this issue. But Sharad Pawar had taken a different stand on this issue.

Referring to the Hindenburg report in an interview given to a channel, Sharad Pawar said, “This person had made such statements earlier as well and even then there was an uproar in the House for a few days. But this time too much attention has been given to this issue. Anyway, who gave the statements given in the report that came, what is the background of it. When those people raise such issues which create ruckus in the country, it affects our economy only. It seems that all this was done to target someone.” Pawar rejected the idea of JPC on Adani issue and said that it will not be fair as 15 members out of 21 will be from the ruling party.
