Congress leader P Chidambaram has hit out at the Central Government for taking Rs 2000 notes out of circulation and exchanging them without ID proof. The former Finance Minister said that the Modi government at the Center first did demonetisation and it did not get any success in curbing black money and now this step is a new drama.
The State Bank of India clarified on the previous day that no ID proof and form will be required to exchange Rs 2,000 notes. Regarding this, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram questioned the Central Government and said that how will changing Rs 2,000 notes without ID help you in detecting ‘black money’. He said that the BJP’s spin of withdrawing Rs 2000 notes to unearth black money has now collapsed.
Common people do not have 2000 rupee notes because soon after it was introduced in 2016, people stopped taking it.
