New Delhi: A 19-year-old individual from Bihar has been apprehended for his involvement in creating a fictitious social media account and sending explicit messages and manipulated photographs of a woman to her fiancé and family, according to the police. The accused, identified as Shubham Kumar from Makar Saran in Bihar, was taken into custody in Muzaffarpur.
The incident unfolded when a woman lodged a complaint on March 20, stating that her fiancé and family had received morphed photos and indecent messages from a fraudulent social media profile. Consequently, their engagement was called off. A senior police officer revealed that during the investigation, it was discovered that Shubham Kumar had fabricated the account and sent the objectionable content.
According to the police, Kumar claimed to be in a relationship with the woman’s sister-in-law, who, for certain family-related reasons, requested him to ensure the termination of the engagement. In order to defame the complainant, he created the fake account and dispatched explicit messages and doctored images of her to her fiancé. The authorities have seized incriminating material from his mobile phone, and efforts are underway to validate the allegations involving the sister-in-law, as stated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsh Vardhan.
