Neeraj Chopra of India came in second place against Jakub Vadlejch (85.86) in the men’s javelin throw competition at the Zurich Diamond League tournament on Thursday night.
His first try resulted in a throw of just 80.79 meters, while his subsequent two tries failed to provide a mark. Chopra then made a fourth effort and threw 85.22 meters.
His last throw, an 85.71-meter heave that earned him the second place, was his best of the night.
Only 15 centimeters separated the Indian’s best throw from Vadlejch’s best throw of the evening.
With 23 points after 4 Diamond League contests, Chopra came in third.
In the meanwhile, India’s Murali Sreeshankar, who placed fifth in the men’s long jump (best attempt: 7.99m), has also advanced to the Diamond League final.
He competed in three Diamond League tournaments, earning a total of 14 points (6+4+4).
In Eugene (US), the Diamond League finals are set for September 16–17.
