Following a gas leak on Sunday, at least 11 people—including two children—were killed and many more are reportedly still inside a factory on Sua Road close to Giaspura in Ludhiana, Punjab. Around 7.15 am, the gas leak was first discovered.
The police Superintendent said, “A team of doctors and ambulances have also been called,” according to news agency ANI. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force, or NDRF, from Bhatinda has been pressed into the rescue operations, and the entire region has been blocked off.
1. Rescue efforts have been pushed upon NDRF teams. The market was evacuated and the area was blocked off by the police.
2. Based on the preliminary information, the gas leak originated from a block that had several businesses, including a shop selling cold drinks, a grocery store and a clinic.
3. According to local media, a gas leak from the cooling system occurred at the Goyal Milk Plant, a dairy product manufacturing facility.
4. It is currently unsafe for anyone to enter the area because nearby neighbours are said to have fainted in their homes.
5. According to the sources, a couple with three kids was discovered dead in the clinic. In other locations, four more people passed away.
6. Eight people—two men, four women, and two children—were carried to the civil hospital after passing away.
7. Resident Umesh Kumar reported waking up in the morning with a headache and a bad stench. To protect themselves from the gas, they shut all the doors and windows. They ultimately decided to leave the home.
8. According to Shambhu Narayan of Jamalpur, the incident resulted in the deaths of his 40-year-old nephew Kabilash Kumar, his wife Barsha Devi, and three of their children, including 20-year-old Kalpana, 12-year-old Abhay Narayan, and 9-year-old Aryan.
9. Resident Ram Murat claimed that Saurav Goyal, 28, and his wife Triti Goyal, as well as Gaurav Goyal’s brother Gaurav and his mother and an eight-month-old kid, were caught in the gas leak. The mother and the couple were killed, but the infant is safe. Gaurav is in critical condition.
10. People are staying away from the location because people within a 300-meter radius of the leak are having trouble inhaling. Officials from the police and civil administration are there and working to provide support and relief.
