As part of an investigation into suspected black market sales of Coldplay concert tickets, Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) summoned Ashish Hemrajani, CEO of BookMyShow’s parent company, Big Tree Entertainment. According to ANI, the company’s technical head accompanied Hemrajani to the summons.
Both have been requested to provide statements in person before the investigating officer on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
This is in response to a lawsuit filed by Advocate Amit Vyas, who charged BookMyShow with aiding in the black sale of tickets for the much-awaited Coldplay concert, which is slated to take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai from January 19 to 21, 2025.
Vyas asserts that influencers and third parties are currently reselling tickets for up to 3 lakhs despite their original price tag of 2,500. As a result, he is requesting that a FIR be filed against the company for fraud.
The report stated that more investigations are underway and additional people may be called in. It also stated that the EOW had already recorded Vyas’ statement and even identified numerous brokers involved in the alleged ticket scalping.
