Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their “terrific” meeting to discuss Google’s ongoing commitment to India.
Pichai thanked the PM in a post on X, saying, “Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the terrific meeting today to discuss Google’s ongoing commitment to India, and how we are expanding our operations, leveraging AI, and increasing our partnerships.”
On Monday, October 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a virtual conversation with Sundar Pichai, the head of Google and Alphabet.
PM Modi and Pichai spoke about Google’s intention to contribute to the development of India’s electronics manufacturing sector throughout their conversation. The Chromebook manufacturing relationship between Google and HP in India was lauded by the prime minister.
The Prime Minister supported initiatives to make AI capabilities accessible in Indian languages and welcomed Google’s 100-language program. In addition, he urged Google to develop AI tools for good governance, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar will house Google’s global fintech operations center, which will be welcomed by the prime minister.
Pichai briefed the Prime Minister on Google’s ambitions to expand GPay and UPI’s influence and power in India in order to increase financial inclusion. In the announcement, it was said that he also underscored Google’s commitment to helping India’s growth.
Additionally, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to Google to participate in the next Global Partnership on AI Summit, which India will hold in December 2023 in New Delhi.
