All schools in the area of the state that has received heavy rain will be closed today, July 20, according to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. However, the local government will ultimately decide whether or not to close the schools based on the local climate.
All schools and higher education facilities in the two Maharashtra districts of Raigad and Chandrapur will be closed today as a result of the heavy rain. Both Chandrapur District Collector Vinay Gowda and Raigad District Collector Yogesh Mhase have declared vacations in their respective districts to ensure the safety of children and educational institutions amid the intense downpours.
The Palghar and Raigad districts have received a red warning from the IMD, while Thane, Mumbai, and Ratnagiri have received an orange alert. Additionally, Palghar and Thane districts have received warnings from IMD until today, July 20, while Raigad will continue to be on orange alert through July 21. Residents are advised to remain indoors, according to a warning from the Palghar district collector. Mumbai remained on orange alert till July 19 owing to heavy rain, while Palghar and Raigad were on red alert.
All public and private schools in Mumbai will be closed today due to the forecasted torrential rainfall in a number of areas around the city. IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) has issued an orange signal for parts of Mumbai for today. There were delays on certain local transit routes in Mumbai and the neighboring regions as a result of the heavy rain.
On Wednesday, CM Eknath Shinde visited the Disaster Management Department at the main office of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. After Mumbai and its neighboring regions were struck by tremendous rains, he went to the facility to assess the condition.
The IMD has issued a warning for very heavy rain in numerous areas of the state of Telangana on July 20 and 21. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), many districts, including Nirmal, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Adilabad, Jayashankar, Bhupalpally, Warangal, Mulugu, and others, might get heavy rainfall.
