In Maharashtra’s Raigad district, 40 houses in Irshalwadi village of Khalapur were buried under debris on Wednesday night after a land slide incident. So far bodies of five people have been recovered from the spot. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reached the spot and has announced an assistance of Rs five lakh each from the government to the families of those who died. He also said that the state government would bear all the expenses for the treatment of the injured. On the other hand, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah take the stock of the situation about landslide incident.
Eknath Shinde said that 15 to 17 houses of the village have been buried under the debris. NDRF, SDRF and local rescue teams are carrying out rescue operations on the spot but since JCB Poklen cannot reach the area, rescue operations are being carried out on a humanitarian basis. We have deployed helicopters for the injured.
Shinde said that this village was not in the landslide affected list. We rehabilitate people from such affected villages. But since this village was not there, we did not rehabilitate the people here. Why is this village not in the list, whose fault is it? What is it, will be investigated later. Eknath Shinde said that five lakh rupees would be given to the families of those who died in the accident.
Meanwhile, heavy rain and difficult roads are hampering rescue operations, but helicopters will be called in as soon as the weather clears. All systems are ready for rescue operations. NDRF team is working. Although there is no road, but the relief work is going on.
