Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), questioned the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday about the status of its election pledge to make state roads “toll-free”.
Additionally, he said once again that Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), had approved of certain NCP MLAs’ decision to join the Eknath Shinde-BJP cabinet earlier this month. In his remarks to the media present, Thackeray also singled out Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for criticism on the state of the roads in Maharashtra.
After party leader Amit Thackeray was stopped there earlier, several MNS employees reportedly ransacked a toll plaza in Nashik in the early hours of Sunday, according to the police.
The MNS leader discussed it, saying, “The incident of MNS employees vandalizing the toll plaza happened when the personnel at that booth misbehaved with Amit Thackeray. It was an isolated event, therefore my kid is not now on a rampage of ransacking toll booths. His travels are in Maharashtra.
Thackeray stated, “He was stopped even though he had a Fastag, and the response occurred after he was met with disrespectful behavior at the toll booth. He said that the BJP should focus on fulfilling its electoral pledge to make state roads toll-free rather than just discussing the problem. “Each time a certain individual wins the toll contract. He questioned, “Who is he?
He mentioned the incidents on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway and said that 400 lives had been lost so far on the recently built motorway. “There are no guardrails on the road. Will the BJP or the administration accept the blame, he questioned.
Thackeray said that the Mumbai-Goa motorway has been under development for the last 17 years. Gadkari is a Marathi who is from Maharashtra, yet the state’s roads are worse, he remarked, referring to himself as the federal minister for highways and road construction. There is nothing more regrettable than this.
When told that the state legislative assembly lacks a leader of the opposition, Thackeray replied in code, “I can see my party as the only opposition party in the state.” Otherwise, he said, everyone has obligations to one another.
“I had tweeted that the first batch had been despatched on the day when a group of NCP MLAs headed by Ajit Pawar went to the Raj Bhavan (and joined the Eknath Shinde-led state administration). As you can see, everything is going as planned. Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar are seen together on the hoardings, he claimed.
When it was brought out that Sharad Pawar had been attending national meetings of the opposition parties, he said that he had been familiar with the older Pawar’s politics for many years. When asked whether the dissident NCP faction’s decision to ally with the government constituted “milibhagat” (collusion), he responded in the positive.
