Regarding the technological data retrieved from the accused detained by the Kothrud Police, new information has come to light. The National Investigative Agency’s (NIA) Al Sufa Rajasthan Terror attack case is now being further investigated by the Maharashtra Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS).
Leading agency sources claim that the apprehended suspect’s computer had 500 GB of data. The information includes YouTube links, Google map photos, books on inciting commotion and brainwashing people, and books on how to construct explosives. Various Google photos, drone photographs, and linkages to places were also discovered in this data and have been sent to FSL for examination.
After learning that Google photos of the Chabad House’s location were discovered with the accused earlier this week, Mumbai police increased the protection of the building, also known as Nariman House.
The NIA questioned the accused as part of its investigation into this case and discovered Google photos of the Chabad House. The Pune ATS and Mumbai Police were then given access to the material.
On Thursday of last week, the Mumbai police performed a fake exercise near the area, and the security there was increased.
More research has shown that the accused were indoctrinated into viewing certain material. Officers have, however, declined to comment on the kind of material they were made to view.
What Was Their Operating Procedure?
Investigations showed that the accused would travel around different Maharashtra regions to scout out the potential targets. The agency named areas like Sangli, Konkan, Kolhapur, Pune Rural, and Kolhapur among others.
Anti-national literature, explosives, and drones were found during searches at these places. Additionally, the officers discovered tent-making supplies. In order to avoid being followed by police to hotels when the accused visited these places, they would remain in these tents in the surrounding forest.
The bomb circuit was also taken from the accused by the authorities. It was made clear that the rumors that the accused had held a trial for the bomb detonation in the bush were untrue.
The third suspect, who fled after the first two were apprehended, is currently being sought by the agency. Now that the third suspect is on the run, they have been able to pinpoint a crucial connection to him. To discover him, many teams have been organized and sent around the nation.
What is the situation with NIA?
A Pune man was detained by ATS last week for providing sanctuary to two wanted terrorist suspects who were apprehended by the Kothrud Police. Then, two suspects in this case from Ratnagiri and Gondia were detained.
When Kothrud police discovered that the suspect was trying to steal a two-wheeler, they filed the case. The NIA sought the terror suspects for their participation in a Rajasthani terror-related case.
The accused are reportedly engaged in terrorist-related operations, have received training in a variety of sabotage techniques, and are developing terrorist plots, according to ATS sources.
Four persons have now been detained in this case by ATS, bringing the total up to six.
