On the third anniversary of NEP 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2023 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. On Sunday at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, the Union Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled the ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram logo, tagline, and mobile application.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Pradhan said that the ULLAS mobile application represents an important step in utilising technology’s ability to provide access to basic literacy. “This user-friendly and interactive app, available on both android and ios, will serve as a digital gateway for learners to engage in a variety of learning resources through the DIKSHA portal of NCERT,” stated Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The ULLAS app may be used by surveyors or self-registered learners and volunteers to register them.
The Minister emphasised that ULLAS would put a strong emphasis on improving functional literacy, vocational competencies, and many crucial life skills including financial literacy, legal literacy, digital literacy, and empowering individuals to participate in nation-building of the country. In communities all throughout India, it also promotes a culture of ongoing learning and knowledge-sharing, he said.
The ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) programme, which fosters a learning ecosystem that reaches every person and closes the gaps in essential life skills and basic literacy, is set to change education and literacy across the country.
“It provides residents aged 15 and older who missed the chance to attend school with a basic education, digital and financial literacy, and essential life skills. Volunteerism is being used to carry it out, the minister added.
“The campaign’s zeal and drive are reflected in the new logo and tagline, ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram. The minister said, “It symbolises the light of knowledge spreading over the whole nation, empowering people with the power of education, and lighting the spark of curiosity and learning in everyone, creating Jan Jan Sakshar.
The programme will encourage volunteers to participate in it out of a sense of duty or Kartavya Bodh for the sake of nation-building, and it will reward student volunteers with school/university credits and other forms of recognition like certificates, letters of appreciation, felicitations, etc.
