IndiGo and Air India experienced double difficulty on Friday when both planes reported engine snags soon after takeoff on separate itineraries.
The IndiGo flight was flying from Patna to Delhi, while the Air India jet was flying from Mumbai to London.
Fortunately, both flights safely returned to the airports from where they took off.
“Due to a technical issue, IndiGo flight 6E-2433 from Patna to Delhi returned to origin.” “We followed standard operating procedures to prioritize the landing, and the aircraft landed safely at Patna,” stated an airline spokeswoman.
“The aircraft is currently at Patna airport and undergoing inspection,” said an IndiGo official.
According to reports, one of its CFM LEAP engines stopped down in flight, but IndiGo’s Airbus A320 successfully returned and landed in Patna.
At the time of the event, the plane was carrying roughly 190 people.
According to an Air India statement, AI-131, which was flying from Mumbai to London, air-returned and made a safe precautionary landing in Mumbai owing to a suspected mechanical fault.
“Because Air India prioritizes safety, the aircraft is being thoroughly inspected.” “Arrangements are being made to get the passengers to their destinations as soon as possible,” stated an airline representative.
