A case has been registered against former Mayor Kishori Pednekar, including two senior officials of the Municipal Corporation, in the alleged Covid Center Scam case in Mumbai. A case has been registered at Agripada police station in Mumbai. Kishori Pednekar is accused of scam in the purchase of body bags.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation is accused of scam of crores of rupees during Corona. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) says that there was a big scam in the tender process during covid. ED says that Kishori Pednekar was also involved in this. That’s why it was expected that Kishori Pednekar could also be questioned.
The ED has said that the bodybags used to carry dead Covid patients in Mumbai were bought for Rs 6800 instead of Rs 2000. The ED alleges that the contract was given on the instructions of the then mayor. Kishori Pednekar was the mayor of Mumbai during the covid era. The ED had conducted raids across the state on 21 June. In this raid, 68 lakh 65 thousand rupees cash, immovable property worth 150 crores were sealed. Apart from this, FDs worth Rs 15 crore have also been received by the ED. 10 to 15 people, including Suraj Chavan, Sujit Patkar, close to Uddhav Thackeray, were involved in the raid conducted by the ED on June 21.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has reacted after the case was registered against Kishori Pednekar. Kirit Somaiya said that Kishori Pednekar will go to jail. He said, “A case has been registered against former Mayor Kishori Pednekar in the body bag purchase case. Body bag worth Rs.1500 was taken for Rs.6700. A case has been registered against Mumbai Mayor, Additional Commissioner and Vedanta Innotech Private Limited. We had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Mumbai Police.
