A 17-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled mine at Virar in Maharashtra’s Palghar district when he was playing cricket nearby and trying to retrieve a ball from it. He told that the incident took place on Thursday evening.
The boy, Yash Solkar, was playing cricket on Thursday evening when he tried to retrieve the ball that had fallen into the water-filled mine, the official said. However, he drowns in the reservoir. He said that on receiving the information, fire brigade personnel reached the spot, but could not trace him.
Later, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was called in. He told that after hard work its personnel managed to recover the body of the victim boy. Later, the body was sent for postmortem to a government hospital and an accidental death report was registered, another official said. Further action is being taken by the police in this matter. There, there is mourning in the family after the boy’s death.
