Online registration of property will become costlier from Monday i.e. from today. The Property Registration Department has decided to charge additional fee from the customers for online service from 7th August. Till now this service was being provided free of cost to the customers to promote digitalisation. But now for e-registration, customers will have to spend an additional Rs 1,000. Apart from this, the registration department has also decided to charge an additional Rs 300 for e-filing service and leave and license agreement. The registration department will charge this amount from the customers as documentation charges.
The department had started the e-registration service to reduce the crowd in the registration office during Corona. With the introduction of e-registration, there was no need for the customers to go to the registration office. The entire process of registration is online. All the renowned builders have started providing this facility to the customers, but now it will be chargeable. According to Anand Gupta, chairman of the Builders Association of India, this charge will not have much effect on the customers. E-registration will save the time of the customers and also save the money spent on reaching the office.
According to the registration department, for providing online service to the customers, expenses have to be incurred on software, storage, servers and hardware. To continue this service, it is necessary to collect documentation charges for e-registration, e-filing service and leave and license agreement.
These three charges have to be paid –
E-filing service: Rs 300
Leave and license agreement: Rs 300
E-registration service: Rs 1000
