According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the opposition’s no-confidence vote is a manifestation of the mutual mistrust amongst INDIA bloc parties as they are trying to determine who agrees and who disagrees with their idea.
He called the opposition coalition “ghamandia” (characterized by arrogance) in his speech to party MPs at the BJP parliamentary conference. He also complimented the party’s Rajya Sabha members for their “semi-final” victory in the vote on the Delhi services bill.
As he voiced optimism about the BJP’s chances in the national elections, Modi, sources said, remarked that some opposition members had termed the vote in the Rajya Sabha as a semi-final before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The controversial law that would give the Center authority over bureaucracy in the national capital was approved by the Rajya Sabha on Monday, with the BJP-led NDA defeating the opposition challenge in the closely-watched numbers game.
Modi instructed party MPs to smash “sixers” on the last ball before the 2024 elections since the governing party is guaranteed to reject the no-confidence resolution in the Lok Sabha, where it holds a large majority. He also made reference to a speech he gave in 2018 in which he had sarcastically urged the opposition to launch a vote of no confidence against his administration in 2023.
In a jab at the opposition parties, the prime minister said that although their leaders talk about social justice, their dynastic, appeasement, and corrupt policies really do more damage than good. He underlined his demand that appeasement politics, hereditary rule, and corruption leave India.
