Borgadi village of Nanded district of Maharashtra is in headlines these days. Actually, this whole village is earning good profit by doing milk business. 20 years ago the farmer Hanmantu Gopuwad started milk business with just one buffalo. Gradually, now the whole village has turned towards milk business.
Hanmantu Gopuwad has 10 buffaloes today. Out of these 6 buffaloes are giving milk. 50 liters of milk is obtained from these buffaloes twice in the morning and evening. The price of this milk is Rs 60 per litre. They take it to Himayatnagar town near the village and sell it. With this, he earns an income of Rs 2500 to 3000 per day. After deducting the expenses, he gets a profit of about Rs 1 lakh a month. He has also bought 5 acres of land from this milk business. Hanumantu Gopuwad has advised that every farmer must do cow rearing as a side business.
Hanumantu Gopuwad started the milk business in the village by taking a buffalo while working as a keeper in another’s farm. After that many people of the village started milk business by taking inspiration from him. Seeing the profit, the young farmers here have also started turning to the milk business. Due to this, they do not have to wander outside for jobs.
Let us tell you that government provides help for cow-rearing and buffalo rearing. NABARD also gives good subsidy to the cattle rearers for rearing milch animals. Apart from this, many state governments also provide financial help to the farmers for animal husbandry at their own level. At the same time, many banks also give loans for animal husbandry at cheap and subsidized rates.
