On Monday, the Grand Alliance in power strongly protested Rahul Gandhi’s exclusion from the Lok Sabha in front of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
The Janata Dal United (JDU), the party of chief minister Nitish Kumar, participated in the protest organized by the Congress while keeping a studiously silent stance on the matter.
The demonstration was attended by lawmakers from every other ally, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS), CPI(ML), CPI, and CPM. The Grand Alliance MLAs arrived wearing black, demonstrating that it was a well-planned action.
A black armband, a black bandi (traditional half- or sleeveless jacket), a black turban, or just a black rag over their shoulders were some of the accessories some wore.
All 19 of the Congress MLAs raced to the House’s well as Question Hour began at 11 a.m., chanting slogans and brandishing banners about “democracy in jeopardy,” the BJP’s nationwide persecution of the opposition, and Rahul’s disqualification as an act of retaliation.
Moreover, lawmakers from other associated parties joined them in the well to voice their opposition to the situation. In the meanwhile, BJP MLAs also flocked to the well to voice their opposition to the state’s recent 20% increase in energy rates.
They protested the matter and argued with the Grand Alliance politicians for some time in the well before staging a walkout.
After a while, the Grand Alliance protestors left the Assembly grounds for the “Martyrs Monument,” where they organized a brief protest march.
