Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday once again denied a split in his party. He said, it is true that some MLAs have left, but the departure of MLAs alone does not mean the breakup of the entire political party. Pawar further said, I am the national president of NCP and Jayant Patil is the state president of the party in Maharashtra.
Pawar said, there is no split in NCP. Although it is true that some MLAs have gone, but MLAs do not mean political parties. When asked whether he is taking a soft stand towards the leaders who rebelled against the party. On this he said – Why should the rebels be given importance by taking their names.
Earlier, Sharad Pawar’s daughter and party’s working president Supriya Sule had said in a statement that there was no break in the NCP and Ajit Pawar would continue to be the leader of the party. Sharad Pawar also reacted to this question. Sharad had said- Yes… there is no dispute in this. But after a few hours, Pawar took a U-turn and said – he did not make any such statement.
Ajit Pawar and eight other NCP MLAs had rebelled against the party on July 2 and joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government led by Eknath Shinde in Maharashtra. The political atmosphere was also heated by this reversal. Ajit staked his claim on the entire party and wrote a letter to the Election Commission.
Sharad Pawar has admitted that when the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)-led government fell in 2022, some NCP MLAs wrote to him to join the Shinde-led government. Although we had not taken any decision. Pawar targeted the BJP-led central government and said, I will continue to oppose the fascist forces. Central investigative agencies have been misused.
He said that there will be a meeting of the opposition I.N.D.I.A alliance in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1. During this, preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be reviewed and joint campaign will also be discussed. He said, I am seeing change in Maharashtra. People are disappointed with those who went with BJP. I am sure that the public will give the right mandate in the elections and show the BJP its rightful place.
