According to representatives of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, the toll for using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will rise by 18% starting on April 1. (MSRDC).
According to a government notice dated August 9, 2004, the toll of the nation’s first access-controlled road is imposed cumulatively at 18% after every three years, even if it rises by 6% yearly, a senior MSRDC official informed PTI.
According to another official, the new toll for four-wheelers like cars and jeeps would be Rs 320, up from the current Rs 270, while for vehicles like minibuses and tempos, it will be Rs 495, down from Rs 420.
The two-axle vehicle toll would rise from the current Rs 585 to Rs 685. It would rise from Rs 797 to Rs 940 for buses.
Multi-axle trucks and equipment vehicles would be required to pay Rs 2,165 instead of the present Rs 1,835, while three-axle trucks will be taxed Rs 1,630 instead of Rs 1,380.
According to authorities, the toll would not change after three years in 2026, therefore it would stay the same until 2030.
The six-lane Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which is 95 km long, went into full operation in 2002. There are five toll booths where the toll is collected, the two largest ones being at Khalapur and Talegaon.
Every day, almost 1.5 lakh cars utilize the expressway.
