Mumbai has received a yellow signal from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The MET department predicts that the city will likely see significant rainfall until September 18.
An Orange notice has been issued for areas outside of Mumbai, including Thane and Palghar, where severe to very heavy rain is possible on September 17.
In the event of very terrible weather when disruptions to transportation services are possible, an orange warning is issued. The district administration has not yet issued any warnings about the closure of colleges or schools.
A report states that over the adjacent North Odisha West Bengal and the North-West Bay of Bengal, a “well marked” low pressure region is formed. According to a MET official, the low pressure is forecast to proceed near Chhattisgarh and Odisha during the following two days.
Yesterday, Navi Mumbai and Thane had sporadic heavy downpours, but IMD warned that as the weekend draws near, the severity of the periods might rise.
“Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm & lightning with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Konkan & Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 15th – 18th and Marathwada during 14th-17th September,” stated IMD in a press release dated September 14. “Gujarat Region during 16th-18th September; Saurashtra on 17th & 18th September.”
According to the announcement, very heavy rainfall is anticipated across the Konkan and Goa, as well as the ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region, and Marathwada on September 16.
DELHI
