In the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, 179 kids have sadly perished in the previous three months. The data that is currently available shows that there were 75 documented fatalities in July and 86 in August. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer of Nandurbar has acknowledged that 18 additional fatalities have been documented from September to this point.
“According to the statistics, there have been 75 fatalities in July, 86 deaths in August, and 18 deaths in September in the Nandurbar area thus far. Low birth weight, birth asphyxia, sepsis, and respiratory illnesses are the main causes of mortality, according to Nandurbar CMO M Sawan Kumar, who spoke to ANI.
The Chief Medical Officer of Nandurbar district emphasized the primary cause of the rising mortality rate, saying, “A total of 71% of fatalities are of newborns from 0-28 days age. In Nandurbar’s two talukas, fatalities account for at least 60% of all deaths. The lack of year-round connection in the villages, problems with the roads, and the inability of ambulances to access these places are the causes of deaths. Information concerning the patient is delayed in arriving owing to network connection issues, which also delays the patient’s arrival at the hospital. Here, a lot of women have sickle cell disease, which makes labor and delivery challenging.
The state has launched Mission Lakshya in an effort to minimize newborn fatalities. Giving more information, the Chief Medical Officer said, “To reduced the number of deaths, we have launched Mission Lakshya 84 days.” We will measure ANC and PNC everyday for 42 days as part of our mission in an attempt to try to minimize the number of fatalities; the outcomes will be visible in two to three months.
