Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar and a key member of the opposition coalition known as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A. ), said on Saturday that he opposes any restrictions on media. He emphasized his support for the media industry and said that he was unaware of the INDIA bloc’s intention to boycott journalists. “I have no knowledge of this…I’m in favor of supporting the media. Journalists will publish anything they want until everyone has complete freedom. Are they under control? Have I done it before? They have rights, and I don’t oppose anybody, stated CM Kumar.
“Journalists will write anything they want if given complete freedom. Everyone has rights, the chief minister of Bihar declared.
“Those who are at the Center are now in charge of a small number of individuals. Those who were with us must have sensed something was going on. The Bihar Chief Minister, however, refuted the BJP’s claims of division within the opposition coalition and said, “I am not against anybody.
The 14 TV hosts on the INDIA group’s list of those they won’t speak with during Thursday’s meeting. This led to a disagreement since the BJP said it was comparable to the Emergency era when the Congress attempted to stifle the media. According to Congressman Pawan Khera, it’s more like deciding not to collaborate than it is a ban or boycott. The INDIA parties collectively resolved not to participate on the TV programs held by these anchors, he said, adding that the 14 journalists on the list are free to say whatever they want. He continued by saying that INDIA parties may return to their programs if these journalists changed their behavior and began doing better for the nation.
Shehzad Poonawalla, a spokesman for the BJP, said Nitish Kumar publicly disagreed with the journalists’ boycott and termed it a mistake. He also said that this Congress decision is being opposed by a large portion of the INDI alliance, likening it to an emergency order. Poonawalla drew attention to the fact that the Samajwadi Party disregarded this choice and made an appearance on these programmes only moments after it was made.
Aditi Tyagi, Aman Chopra, Amish Devgan, Arnab Goswami, Ashok Shrivastav, Chitra Tripathi, Gaurav Sawant, Navika Kumar, Prachi Parashar, Rubika Liaquat, Shiv Aroor, and Sudhir Chaudhary are among the 14 journalists on the list.
