Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, argued against the idea of “one nation, one election” on Monday and argued that the country needs “one nation, one education, and one treatment” instead. He also promised a number of assurances to the people of Madhya Pradesh if the AAP won the year-end elections.
The Delhi Chief Minister said that the nation needs frequent elections, even once a month, since this enables political parties to frequently make promises to voters, which would not be possible if voting only occurs once every five years.
According to him, the nation needs “one nation, one education” (equal education for everyone) and “one nation, one treatment” (equal treatment for everyone, affluent or poor).
“Never allow them (BJP) to adopt the “one nation, one election” system in the nation because political parties just take care of people during elections and make promises to provide them everything they ask for. Speaking at a gathering of the public in Rewa, the capital of Madhya Pradesh’s Vindhya region, Kejriwal remarked, “They talk to you very sweetly (during elections).”
According to the AAP leader, political leaders would address people only six months before elections if they were all conducted at once.
Political leaders would go around London, Paris, and other foreign cities for four and a half years before coming to you right before elections, he warned, if the idea of one country, one election is put into practice.
The AAP, which is in charge in Delhi and Punjab, thinks elections should be conducted every month, according to the bureaucrat-turned-politician.
To explore the subject of conducting simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha, state legislatures, municipalities, and panchayats, the Center has formed an eight-member high-level committee. According to the Delhi CM, everyone, regardless of socioeconomic standing, should get the same standard of “ilaaz” (medical care), including children of the wealthy and the destitute.
After opposition parties established the INDIA coalition to challenge the saffron party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal slammed the BJP for trying to alter the name of India to Bharat.
Will they also change our name to Bharat tomorrow, he questioned.
The AAP is a member of the INDIA alliance, a group of more than twenty parties assembled to compete against the saffron party in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.
They’ve begun insulting India, and the BJP has lost its mind. “But I love my India,” Kejriwal remarked, adding, “They only love power, and for it they can even sell the nation.” The Delhi chief minister reaffirmed his party’s commitments to the people of Madhya Pradesh, including the provision of free, round-the-clock electricity and the cancellation of outstanding energy bills until October 31 in a manner similar to what AAP governments have done in the national capital and Punjab.
If elected, he pledged to modernize government schools in the BJP-ruled state so that every child could get a decent education and where even wealthy parents could send their kids to school.
The Delhi CM said, “We will transform all government schools into modern learning centers in the next five years (if AAP is elected to power), so that even those sending their children to private institutions are compelled to send them to government schools.”
Additionally, he promised to modernize government hospitals in the style of Delhi in order to give patients with high-quality care that is free of charge, including medications, diagnostic tests, and surgeries that might cost up to Rs 30 lakh–40 lakh.
Invoking a line from the recently released Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Jawan,” Kejriwal urged voters to abstain from casting their ballots on the basis of their religion or caste and suggested that instead, they should ask candidates for office what they have done for them in the areas of education and health.
In addition to promising to provide unemployed young people a monthly income of Rs 3,000 until they find work, Kejriwal also said that all temporary or contract government workers, particularly teachers, will be regularized.
The AAP politician promised to introduce the “Teerth Darshan Yojna” for older folks and said that in Delhi, more than 75,000 of them have already benefited from these completely free pilgrimage visits.
He pledged to provide Rs 1 crore in financial support to the families of security personnel—including members of the Army and police—who lose their lives while doing their duties.
In reference to tribal people, he said that the PESA Act will be implemented for their benefit since they had a claim to land, minerals, and forest products. He also guaranteed farmers appropriate compensation for crop losses.
The Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act gives gram sabhas (village assemblies) the authority to conduct business in accordance with regional customs and traditions.
Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab and an AAP politician, also spoke at the gathering.
The BJP was challenged by Mann to contrast the 18 years of BJP control in MP with the 18 months of AAP government in Punjab, where he claimed investments totaling Rs 50,000 crore had arrived and would create 2.86 lakh jobs.
He said that once the AAP took control in Punjab in March 2022, 36,000 individuals received government employment and that 90% of families’ electricity costs were eliminated during this time.
In addition, 12,710 temporary instructors in the northern state became permanent workers, bringing the total number of temporary government employees to 28,000.
The chief minister of Punjab criticized attempts to rename India as Bharat.
What name would be given to the Indian Army, Indian Premier League, State Bank of India, Reserve Bank of India, Skill India, and Make In India if the name of India were changed? Simply because the opposing group’s name is INDIA, they have an issue with India, Mann said.
