Over 31,000 women recited ‘Atharvashirsha’ at the famous Dagdusheth Ganpati pandal in Pune on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra. Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust informed that this is the 36th year of the annual recitation of Atharvashirsha in their Ganesh Utsav celebrations.
Atharvashirsha is an Upanishad written in Sanskrit, which is dedicated to Lord Gresha. During this lesson, all the women dressed in traditional clothes gathered in front of Dagdusheth Ganpati Pandal and chanted ‘Atharvashirsha’. This year the theme of the pandal was kept on Ram temple of Ayodhya. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat performed special puja at the famous pandal on Tuesday, the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
In another case, Maharashtra Police has issued a notice against Ganesh Pandal of Thane district. Actually, the decoration of the pandal was done on the theme of the split in Shiv Sena last year. According to an official of Kalyan’s Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vijay Tarun Mandal, this year the theme of the pandal was ‘Democracy is in danger’.
Last year, the police had seized Shiv Sena’s split decorative material and registered a case against Mandal. However, Mandal had challenged the police action in the Bombay High Court, after which the matter was closed. In the notice issued in this action against Mandal, it was said, if any attempt is made to create dispute between two groups in the decoration of Ganesh Chaturthi, then police action will be taken against it.
Kalyan Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Vijay Salvi said, this year we are celebrating the 60th Ganesh Utsav and this year’s theme has been ‘democracy is in danger’. The army leader said that he had informed the police about the decoration of the pandal two weeks ago.
