An official said on Friday that the police in Maharashtra’s Palghar district detained a tempo’s driver and confiscated gutka and illegal tobacco items worth close to Rs 19.5 lakh from the vehicle.
According to Yogesh Jadhav, the Palghar district PRO API, the police on patrol in Modgaon-Haladpada on Wednesday found the prohibited goods in a tempo. Sushil Sahni (35) was named as the tempo driver.
Police have opened an investigation into the situation at the Kasa police station, and they’re attempting to determine where Sahni purchased the illegal goods from and who he meant to transfer the merchandise to.
