According to authorities, two kids in Maharashtra’s Thane district perished while swimming in a pond.
An officer at the police control room said that the incident happened on Sunday after lunch when a girl, 12, and a boy, 7, both from Bhiwandi town, entered the pond in Damangaon with other kids.
The nearby youngsters cried out in terror as the two began to sink.
The two kids were retrieved from the pond by several bystanders. According to the official, they were sent to a hospital where the staff confirmed them dead.
The postmortem was done on the corpses at a government hospital.
The police noted that an accidental death investigation had been opened.
