Following Sunday’s series of explosions that targeted a Christian prayer meeting in Kalamassery, Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to assess the status of affairs in the southern Indian state.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was instructed to look into the explosions by the Union home minister. In addition, he gave the NSG orders to arrive at the scene and begin investigating the event. A group of NIA’s forensic specialists reportedly arrived at the location to gather evidence.
The Zamra International Convention & Exhibition Centre was rocked by numerous bombs, resulting in at least one fatality and over 25 injuries.
When the explosions rocked the convention center, almost 2,000 people were attending a Christian prayer meeting hosted by Jehovah’s Witnesses. Additional explosions occurred after the initial bomb, which happened at approximately nine in the morning, according to news agency ANI.
According to state Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in Kerala, VD Satheesan, 25 people have been admitted to the hospital, six of them are in the intensive care unit. One woman has passed away.
“I was informed that there was a fire and two explosions. There was a big explosion first. The other one was not so big. There is one woman dead and twenty-five hospitalized. There are six people in the ICU unit out of 25. There were around 2,000 persons in attendance, the Congress leader said.
A committee member who was an eyewitness said that after the explosion, they hurried out to get everyone to safety. As of right now, he added, all they know is that it was an accident.
It happened by mistake. We all hurriedly left. We are just aware of it. We all hurriedly left. secured everyone’s safety. Right now, that is all we have to say. We’re meeting with the police to find out the current circumstances,” the eyewitness was reported by ANI as saying.
