After conducting a discussion on the Maratha reservation, which has seen violent episodes in the state, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis departed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s official house late on Monday evening.
Following the violent occurrences over the Maratha reservation in Maharashtra’s Beed, district collector Dipa Mudhol Munde issued prohibitory orders under CrPC 144(2) in a 5-kilometer radius on Monday.
The district headquarters as well as each taluka headquarters within the district have issued the prohibitory orders.
The authorities made this decision in response to many violent occurrences that occurred in Beed city on Monday.
On Monday, a group of demonstrators in favor of the Maratha reservation set fire to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) headquarters in Beed city.
Additionally, the demonstrators set fire to the homes of state minister Jay Kshirsagar and NCP MLA Sandeep Kshirsagar.
On Monday, a mob supporting Maratha reservation also set fire to NCP MLA Prakash Solanke’s home in Beed, Maharashtra.
Solanke said that he and his family were unharmed and that the fire had caused a significant loss of property.
“When my house was assaulted, I was inside. Thankfully, neither my family nor the employees suffered any injuries. Even though the fire caused a significant loss of property, everyone is safe, according to Solanke.
This occurs during activist Manoj Jarange’s indefinite fast, which began on October 25 in Antarwali Sarati hamlet in the Jalna district.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde responded to the event by saying, “Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil should take note of the fact what turn this protest is taking.” It’s heading in the incorrect way.
In addition, he warned against instigating violence in the name of the Maratha reservation and said that the movement as a whole is being viewed with mistrust because of certain individuals.
The chief minister added, “Those who engage in violence should also remember that it damages Maratha society and their families will also suffer as a result.”
In the meanwhile, the Maharashtra subcommittee convened today for a critical meeting to deliberate on the Maratha reservation issue. Following the meeting, Chief Minister Shinde said that an advisory council led by a number of former judges had been established by the government to investigate the issue.
Manoj Jarange Patil, a Maratha Morcha organizer, is seeking reservations for the Maratha people by going on a hunger strike till death.
